Swinson named Home Care Nurse of the Year
Barb
Swinson, Hospice Coordinator for Clay County Health
Department, was named 2004 Home Care Nurse of the Year at the Home Care Across Illinois Conference on November 18 and 19. Home Care Across
Illinois is a not-for-profit organization comprised of home care agencies
housed in health departments throughout the state.
Swinson
was nominated for the prestigious award by Barb Tackitt,
CCHD Home Care Director. “Barb has
gained the respect of her peers, health department administrators, physicians,
clients, family, and friends. Her
knowledge and expertise have been invaluable to our Home Care Department, but
it’s her great attitude and unending dedication that makes her worthy of this
distinction,” states Tackitt.
Swinson
has been with CCHD since 2001. In 2002, she
achieved certification as a specialist in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence nursing
and now provides consultation services for surgeons, home health nurses,
nursing homes, and area health departments.
In addition, Swinson humbly accepted the position of Hospice Coordinator
in 2003. The kindness she has shown
during this fragile period before death has won the respect and the hearts of
many families.
